Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Orton-Gillingham Program?
The Orton-Gillingham program is based on techniques that focus on the mechanics of reading, i.e., how to deconstruct words, sound them out, and gain reading speed and fluency. It also uses multisensory approaches to cement learning and understanding by using different sensory techniques. There are also some other reading programs. All the programs have been developed to help individuals with dyslexia improve their reading and writing skills. However, it is important to consult with your doctor about which program is the most effective for you. For more information, see our article on Dyslexia Treatment.
